How would you describe combination skin?
Combination skin has a very distinct T-zone, which includes your forehead, chin and nose and is oilier than the rest of your skin. These areas are shiny and prone to impurities, while the area on the cheeks is normal to dry. Combination skin is a very common skin type.
How can you best care for combination skin?
It is important to find skin care that is formulated to give your skin the moisture and protection it needs, while ensuring your complexion stays refreshed and clean all day. After cleansing, use a toner to repair skin, moisturise to keep your skin protected and exfoliate to remove built up skin cells.
Products in this pack: Our Aloe Vera Foaming Cleanser, our Skin Rescue, our Avocado and Macadamia Light Facial Cream and our White Tea and Cucumber Cleansing Milk and Pumice Exfoliant.
Start with a gentle cleanser:
The first step towards controlling combination skin is to find a good cleanser that does not contain any irritants or fragrances, making it gentle on the skin to prevent any irritation or dryness. Our Aloe Vera Foaming Cleanser is perfect for combination skin, as it combines coconut water that not only detoxifies the skin but also helps build your skins natural immune system and protection, olive leaf extract which will soften and protect your skin and bitter orange extract to calm the over-active production of skin oil. Use this organic cleanser to clean, soothe, tone and hydrate your skin. This organic cleanser is soap free, which means it cares for and does not strip the skin.
Use a toner to repair skin:
It is important to use a toner that does not contain any irritants whatsoever, instead use a toner that is filled with skin repairing ingredients. We always recommend the skin rescue as it combines aloe vera, cucumber, gotu kola, calendula and grape seed extract to soothe the skin, promote the fast healing and regeneration of the skin and to boost the development of collagen.
Keep your skin moisturised and protected:
Even though combination skin has two different skin type areas there are two things they have in common, they need moisture and protection. Which means that you do not need two different moisturisers, just use our Avocado and Macadamia Light Facial Cream, as it combines organic coconut, avocado and macadamia oil that will nourish and hydrate your skin while creating a protective barrier. Also by combining bitter orange extract, which has the ability to calm the over-active production of sebum, makes this the perfect organic face cream for combination skin.
Exfoliate to remove built-up skin cells:
When you have oily skin the body’s natural process of exfoliation can be slowed, as oily skin acts as a glue by holding the dead skin cells to the surface, which means exfoliating is especially helpful to those with combination skin. Exfoliating your skin two to three times a week will keep your skin smooth, improve skin tone and will help rid skin of dulling skin cells to keep skin clear. Use our White Tea and Cucumber Cleansing Milk and Pumice Exfoliant which combines organic coconut water to cleanse and neutralise toxins, fungi and bacteria, white tea extract which helps keep your skin looking younger by protecting it from damage, apple extract to actively treat and help prevent breakouts and bitter orange extract which has the ability to calm the over-active production of sebum.
Squirt a small amount of foaming cleanser into wet hands and apply it to your face in a circular motion, making sure each problem spot gets covered. Keep massaging in a circular motion for thirty seconds to a minute. Then rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a towel, making sure you don’t rub your face, as this can irritate the skin.
Once you have washed your face with the foaming cleanser, smooth a small amount of skin rescue onto face and neck, making sure you concentrate on your affected areas and then wait 30 seconds. Apply a small amount of our light facial cream; rub cream in your hands first to bring it to skin temperature, this will encourage absorption and then apply the organic cream with firm but gentle pressing motions.
Exfoliate your skin two to three times a week, making sure you cleanse your skin first before exfoliating. Then apply the skin rescue and light facial cream.
